Duties/Abilities: The nurse practitioner role is a model of extended practice that builds upon existing nursing codes and standards as well as the competencies of advanced practice nursing. The Nurse Practitioner is authorised to practice as a nurse practitioner with legal provisions to diagnose, prescribe medication, order diagnostic tests and refer to other health professionals.
